Thomas Jolyffe Primary School

News & Events / Diary Dates 2013

  • Olympic Gold Medallist James Roe MBE received a cheque from Nidhi Jathin (2A) to help pay for a Guide Dog puppy.

  • Congratulations to Miss MacInnes (1A class teacher) for completing the Virgin London Marathon on 21st April in just over 5 and a half hours.  Miss MacInnes is raising money for St Helena Hospice and has a Just Giving Page at www.justgiving.com/Louise-MacInnes  Well done, Miss MacInnes!

  • Harry Owen (Olympic Gymnast) recently came to Thomas Jolyffe to talk to the children about Sports 4 Schools. We would like to thank everyone who took part in raising sponsor money for Sports 4 Schools. An amazing £1,442.98 was raised!  Of this amount, £556.19 will go to Thomas Jolyffe to purchase sports equipment. The remainder goes to Sports 4 Schools association and the Action for Children Charity.  We are very proud of our children for this fantastic effort.

  • Murphy Salisbury accountants in Stratford are kindly sponsoring some PE kits for Thomas Jolyffe.  Many thanks to Mr and Mrs Bullock (parents of Molly in 2A).  Mr Bullock is doing an Iron Man Challenge (2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26 mile run) in Bolton on 4 August 2013 in aid of Arrythymia Alliance, to provide a defibrillator outside Stratford Sports Club.  If anyone would like to sponsor Mr Bullock he has set up a Just Giving Page at www.justgiving.com/Mark-Bullock1

  • Thank you to all those who donated 50p for our No Pen Day in March. We raised over £146 for Oxfam towards a new classroom in a Third World country.

  • We were very proud to receive statistics stating that our progress in Key Stage 2 Sats across all subjects in 2012 was within the top 7% of schools in the country. Statistics also showed that Thomas Jolyffe has improved attainment and progress levels over the last 6 years.  This not only reflects the efforts of our pupils and staff but also the commitment of you, our parents, for encouraging and assisting your child(ren) in achieving the best they can. By working together I hope we can further build on these impressive results.

  • Please be reminded that children are not permitted to bring in hard footballs for use during playtimes. Sponge balls only please.

  • Despite numerous reminders we are still having problems with parents parking on the zigzag and double yellow lines outside school.  To ensure the safety of all our children, please do not park or drop off your children in the mornings at these locations. Please also be reminded that only parents with disabled badges who have notified school are allowed to park/drop off inside the school grounds. All other parents are asked to park safely and legally in roads around the school, respecting our neighbours.

  • Have you been watching the Life Channel in school?  The Schools TV network provides us with age-appropriate health, wellbeing and community television channel. We can also add TJ photos, videos and messages to celebrate pupil achievement and positively influence student behaviour.  Underpinned in the UK by the Department of Health, the Department of Children and Schools and Families, the schools TV network programme is designed to follow The Children's Plan and Every Child Matters frameworks.
