Thomas Jolyffe Primary School

E-Safety

The internet is an integral part of children's lives these days. It opens up many educational and social opportunities, giving them access to a world of information and experiences.  Whether on a computer at school, a laptop at home, a games console or mobile phone, children and young people are increasingly accessing the internet whenever and wherever they can.  Research by Ofcom for example shows that 78% of 5-7 year olds are currently accessing  the internet.

At Thomas Jolyffe we want to safeguard children and support parents/carers in ensuring their children are safe in both the real and virtual world.

Our E safety policy and safety monitoring software remain integral tools in supporting our e-safety aims.  Our ICT curriculum provides us with frequent opportunities to learn the importance of keeping safe when using technology.

We hope that you find the following information and links useful in helping us to protect our school community so that we can benefit from the rich, exciting and varied opportunities offered by both present and future technologies.

Within the UK, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection  Centre (CEOP) spearheads activities and launches resources to raise awareness and empower children and young people.  Their Think You Know resources cater for children of all ages, teachers, parents indeed all members of the school community.
